Blank map maker

Every map in Create My Maps starts blank. No preset colors, no sample data, no labels you have to switch off first - just clean region outlines waiting for whatever you want to put on them.

Why a blank map beats a static image

The usual way people make a colored map is to search for a blank outline image, open it in an image editor, and fill regions with the paint bucket. That falls apart quickly: the bucket leaks across anti-aliased borders, small regions are hard to hit, and if you get one value wrong you often start over.

Here every region is a separate vector shape. Clicking one colors that region exactly, with clean borders every time. Change a value and the map updates - there is nothing to redo.

What blank maps are available

The library covers four levels of detail, so you can go from a whole-world overview down to individual districts.

World and continents

The full world, each continent, UN regions, time zones and several centered projections.

Countries

Individual country outlines with their first-level subdivisions - states, provinces, regions or departments.

US states and counties

All 50 states individually, the country by state, and the full county map with over 3,000 counties.

Administrative detail

Deeper subdivisions where they exist, including Indian districts and constituencies and UK counties.

Blank maps for teaching and worksheets

A blank map is often wanted for a quiz or a worksheet rather than for data. Turn labels off and export a clean outline for students to fill in by hand, or turn labels on and export a reference version - the same map, two exports, no separate source file to keep in sync.

SVG export is the useful one for printing: it stays sharp at any paper size, where a downloaded PNG of unknown resolution often does not.

From blank to finished

Color regions by clicking, or paste a spreadsheet column to color them all at once. Add a legend, a title and a description, then export. Work is saved automatically as you go, so closing the tab does not lose the map.

Frequently asked questions

Are the blank maps free to download?
Yes. Open any map, color it or leave it blank, and export a PNG or SVG at no cost and without an account.
Can I print a blank map?
Yes. Export to SVG for printing - it stays sharp at any size. PNG also works for quick prints at screen resolution.
Can I get a blank map with no labels at all?
Yes. Region labels and abbreviations are off by default and can be toggled, so a clean unlabeled outline is the starting point.
Do you have blank US state and county maps?
Yes - all 50 states individually, the USA by state, and a full county map covering more than 3,000 counties.
Can students use these for homework?
Yes. The tool is free and needs no account, which makes it practical for classroom use. The map geometry is licensed for non-commercial use with attribution.
